Facts about Graphene

01
Unique
Physical Structure

Graphene is as thin as a single atom (1/1,000,000,000th of a meter). Because of this, it has the highest surface area that one gram can be stretched to cover over 2,630 sqm. This allows for high absorption rate and high quantity of substance can be absorbed. High surface area also means ability to detect multiple molecules, biomolecules and even cells. With biocompatibility, the physical structure of graphene is highly suitable for biosensors.

02
Strength

Graphene is 200 times stronger than steel and 6 times more flexible. Despite the low in toughness and resistance to fracture, Graphene has so far been the strongest material ever discovered.

03
Electroconductivity

It conducts heat and electricity with great efficiency, almost 10 times more conductive than copper wire and 5 times more than silicon chips. Additionally, Graphene can be functionalized to have anti-static ability which prevents bacterial growth or even kills it.

04
Thermal
Conductivity

Graphene has 10 times thermal conductivity of copper. Graphene conducts heat in all directions, that is, it is an isotropic conductor.

05
Impermeability

The molecules of Graphene are small enough to fit in between other material molecules and is dense enough to be impermeable to all gases. Even hydrogen atoms cannot penetrate its structure.
